Cow outfit and fun new tricks

Riley has two new tricks to share. First, her hands have found each other. (Also, she has her cute cow outfit on)

Riley has also started sticking her tongue out. She was able to imitate us as first when we did it, now she just sticks it out all the time.

Riley laughs

Jason and I felt like we have been on the verge of Riley laughing for a while now. Yesterday when changing her, I zerbitted/strawberried her leg. She smiled and started to laugh. So like any good parent, I grabbed the camera to record. Riley is usually preoccupied when she sees the camera, so the laughs were not as good as the first, but you get the idea. She also looks semi-annoyed at the end. We haven't been able to get her to laugh again, of course, but we'll keep trying.

White death from the sky

This morning we had what the locals like to call a snow storm, or how Jason refers to it - "white death from the sky." All the schools were closed even before the 1/2 inch (maybe) of snow began to fall.

The puppies, especially the huskies, enjoy the snow. Raimo would rather stay in during inclement weather, but ventured out after the excitement was done.

Riley was also very excited about the snow and wanted to go play. We put on the snowsuit Aunt Michelle gave her. Unfortunately it was a little big, but didn't we look cute anyway :)

Dressing up

One of the many fun things I have discovered as a mom is dressing up the baby. Each day we get to pick out an outfit to wear. I am often anxious for Riley to grow so that we can pull from another set of clothes. Today I spotted the pink sweater in the closet and thought we should try it on. Lucky for us there is a matching bonnet. I believe it was one made by my grandmother.

Play pictures

Riley is definately growing quickly and starting to do more things. She is now able to lift her head up when she is on her stomach and look around. Today we played on the floor for a few minutes and got some close up shots.

The Newest Duck Fan!!!!

A large part of parenting is making sure you bring your children up right. This is especially hard when you are in TN Volunteer country. We have to make sure Riley has the correct influences in her life. We are well on our way to making sure she is and remains for ever and always a Quacker Backer! Just like her dad and her big sis.

She absolutely loved the Holiday Bowl where the Oregon Ducks took the 1st half off and then dismantled the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the 2nd half. Here's a look at all the touchdowns and big plays from the game.

The main event

Ladies and gentleman, IIIIIIT'S TIIIMMMMMEE!! for the main event here at the Curtis Dojo. In the blue corner, we have the returning champion, Riley "the baby" Curtis. "The baby" weighs in at 11 pounds, 14 ounces and is 23" tall. Her specialty is stand-up, but is not afraid to take the fight to the ground and pound out the win.
In the red corner, we have the opponent - Jason "the Daddy" Curtis. "The Daddy" came in over the 12 pound limit by just a few pounds. He also has a five foot height advantage on his opponent. He has a strong chin and will definately need it for this fight.
"The baby" quickly dominates the action. Let's look at the highlights of the match ... (sorry for the quality, we had to bootleg a copy from the pay-per-view)

Playing with my toy

Riley has started 'playing' with her toys. She will follow when they move and sometimes smile at them.

Vanderbilt wins a bowl game

On New Years Eve, Vanderbilt played in their first bowl game since 1982 against Boston College here in Nashville. We did not attend the game, but watched it. Vanderbilt won. To commemorate the event, Riley got her picture taken next to the TV.

Grams and Gramps Curtis got Riley a Rainforest jumperoo. We didn't put it together right away because we thought Riley was too small for it. Once we did, we found out Riley liked it.

Today, she wasn't in the mood for it, and made some pitiful faces before she got out.
