Riley vs The Octopus

Today we had a little Kumite at the Curtis Dojo, Riley would square off against her toughest opponent to date. Going into the fight daddy was quoted as saying "we gotta keep this standng up, on the ground that octopus is dynamit!"

The fight started out from the sitting position, primarily because nehter combatant can stand at this point! Riley immediately went for a text book Muay Thai clinch, two hands around the neck (or in this case the handle on top of the head), pull down and work some knees or elbows in tight.

The octopus seemed rocked by a knee so it went in for the takedown shooting at Riley's legs, Riley maintained top position through use of her clinch work....

But the octopus is a master on the ground, it's got 8 legs! The octopus kept a hold of the leg until it was able to drive through and complete the sweep.

The octopus was able to catch Riley a little off balance and throw her all the way over to her back.

Riley quickly got back into position and tried to pull guard. The octopus was working some ground and pound, unfortunately even from guard the octopus has 6 free limbs to strike with.

The ground and pound was proving to much for Riley, so she gave up her back, we feared the octopus would be able to sink in a rear naked choke from this point and it didn't look good. At this point the octopus was showboating for the camera with it's big cheesy smile, clearly thinking it was all a matter of time.

Riley was able to shake the octopus off her back and regain he position.

She worked the transition game from her belly!

The octopus knew it didn't have position anymore, it tried to run out of the desigated area (blankey). You could here Riley yell "eh" which coudl beroughly translated into "where do you think you are going you pansy, I'm not done with you yet!"

Riley drug the octopus back into the center of the blanket where she began to go to work.

She landed blow after blow unanswered to the octopus.

She got her legs up high and went for a triangle choke to finish him off.

But she was unable to keep control.

She then moved in for her 'go to' move. (now, for some, this may be a little graphic.) Since this wasn't a sanctioned bout it was kind of an unwritten 'anything goes' type of match. Riley used her 2.5 teeth and sunk in a submission bite at 3:25 of the 1st round for the victory.

You can see the cold stare in her eyes.

After the fight Riley decided to show up the show boat by doing a little hamming of her own.

And then an exhausted Riley raises her hand in victory.
